![]() ![]() You have to be working with young children when you finish the training and begin the CDA process, so I guess it would depend on how long you plan to be working in the present child care center. This is a negligent policy and can put a child in distinct danger. It is never a good idea to merely tell a superior about it and hope that person will follow through in reporting. For the most part, the protocol is for the person who witnesses the alleged abuse or evidences of abuse to be the one who is mandated to report it to appropriate authorities. There must always be such policies in place, so that when these situations come up, there is no question as to what needs to be done. For those who are working in a family child care program, the owner would have such policies in similar publications. That would be the center at which you are working… what policies does the center have for reporting suspected child abuse? This information would be in the staff handbook and often in the parent handbook, as well. ![]() The second part of Resource #1 asks you for the policy of your particular program for reporting child abuse. ![]() There, it will outline how suspected cases of child abuse must be reported by child care staff. You can find the requirements in your State’s child care licensing regulations. ![]()
